Never a better feeling than going out on a limb for your underdog.

Take our good friend Miguel, who predicted both Dynasty manhandling FC Dnipro 5-1 in the B3 finale and FC Lagoria slipping past CAE FC to steal the C1 spotlight. Only Andrea felt L’Olympique Zoo would carry the B5. Only Dahlia backed both the Aardvarks and the Bulldogs. And only Julian singled out FC Roubla as worthy C5B champs.

Still, in spite of the gutsy one-offs, a glaring lack of imagination. How come nobody expected top-seed FC Famolya to do what they did all season long, or envisioned Kangaroo FC knocking out the FC Goons in the C5?

Maybe Mike Ditka’s words can remind us, again, why the business of picking winners remains a fool’s errand: “You’re never a loser until you quit trying.”
